Last Tuesday, I went to the mall in an effort to search for some new summer clothes. Unfortunately, I started out in Dillard’s looking at shoes and what I saw ruined my entire clothes shopping mood.

I wish the wedge-heeled shoes would die. God!

Some shoes were cute but not something I would wear. Some shoes were just.plain.ugly.
Taking a break from looking at shoes, I wandered out into the mall and decided to check out the iPads at the Apple store. Needless to say, I left the mall with no clothes but I do have a shiny new iPad in my possession. Yes, yes – I know I can’t wear my iPad, but it gives me sooo much more pleasure and happiness than clothes ever will.

If you’re keeping score: Danielle Delights in iPads. Danielle does not delight in clothes shopping.

Atlanta Association of Black Journalists – I am now a member of the AABJ. I have my BA in Communication Studies – Mass Media, so I should be a member, right? I think it only makes sense. I am delighted to be a member of the group. I was not delighted about introducing myself to a room full of strangers. I don’t think I made a very good first impression.

Mango lemonade – as always, Karsh and I roam (not really) the streets of Atlanta searching for the next great food spot. This time we ended up at Mango’s Caribbean Restaurant and the mango lemonade was delightfully on point.

When you find yourself sipping on your mango lemonade in a restaurant across from another blogger who is wearing this shirt, you start to question if said blogger is trying to tell you something. He said it didn’t mean anything, but you know what? I’ve got my eye on you, Karsh.

Last but not least, I delight in the Team Blackness United community. Neal, a fellow listener of Blacking It Up, came to the Atlanta area for a family celebration and hung out with a few members of TB United while he was here. It was great to finally meet the 1st Lieutenant of TB United. If you don’t understand why Neal is the 1st Lieutenant of TB United then you have not listening to Blacking It Up. I am proud to report that Neal has had his own tribunal because of something ratchet he posted on Google Plus. The community was so up in arms about it, a tribunal was held during one of the After Black segments.

Soybeans are of the devil.

I’m tempted to let that one sentence be the entirety of this post – because really, it says it all.

Soybeans are of the devil and I cannot eat them.
Did you know that soybeans (in one form or another) are in almost every prepackaged food out there? (This is totally an opinion statement as I did not do a proper statistical analysis.) I have, however, looked at a lot of labels in the past few years and noticed that companies LOVE their soy. Well look here you companies! My body cannot process this stuff so stop making tasty food using soy. Stop it! It’s unfair to those of us who don’t cook and want to eat your carb filled cookies and crackers.

Oh, and don’t think I’ve forgotten about you, meat companies. Stop it with the hydrolyzed soy protein in your meat and sauces. Do you know what hydrolyzed soy protein does to me? No? Ok, well, it makes me shake and sweat and literally think I’m about to die – like paranoid style. It also does a MAJOR number on my digestive system. (I know, TMI)

As far as soybean oil, my body can process it a little better. However, when I get too much in my system my skin breaks out with white dry patches all over my face. Doesn’t that sound disgusting?

So now you know why I say soybeans are of the devil and why I will continue to say so.
Forever and ever.
Amen

Edit: I don’t have any soy in the house to photograph, hence the scrabble letters.

I am sitting here watching this Brian McKnight video, and here’s the first thing that comes to mind when he starts singing about how to make my female lady parts work:

I hear a… or rather, I picture (in my mind’s eye) Wayne Brady. Oh crap! Brian McKnight is the Wayne Brady of music. I think I’ve always pictured Wayne Brady as a caricature on TV. Do you remember when he did that Dave Chapelle skit? He was doing something you never thought you would see him do, and people freaked out.

That’s what I see going on right now with this Brian McKnight video, and most people aren’t ready to see him outside of the box that he’s created himself. It is often hard for people to look at celebrities as real people. But you know what? He is a real person who just did a real person dumb thing. On the other hand, I think this his attempt at humor. He’s probably trying to take advantage of Twitter by doing what it allows you to do – create a buzz by being outrageous. He still has a great voice, but it’s the off-the-wall subject matter that has people talking.

You want to watch the video for yourself? It’s no longer available on YouTube, but I did find a copy on MissJia.com Please note that the language is not safe for work

I chose this image because that song was hot garbage. The end.

Supposedly I have some level of Klout.

I have to have some level of Klout because they gave me this wonderful perk – Moo cards.

What is Klout? Basically, it’s a website that analyzes and scores your online influence in the social media world. I used to take my Klout score very seriously until I realized it’s just a number and I’m not a social media professional or brand who needs to worry about who I am reaching for sales or marketing purposes.

What is a Moo card? Well, Moo is an online printing company and they print high quality business cards, post cards, stickers, labels, and other stuff. The first time I printed Moo cards was right after the 2010 Blogging While Brown conference. I went to the conference with some plain black and white cards while everyone else had these amazing moo cards! I was ashamed. I was embarrassed. *sniff* I should have known better.

Once I got back to Philly, I ordered my first set of miniMoo cards and everyone loved them! I was happy and smiling again! The best part about using Moo is that it’s linked to my flickr account so I can use my own images on the cards. It’s nothing like saying, “You like that image? Yeah, I shot that.”

So back to this perk.
Recently I had been thinking I need new cards, so this perk came right on time! The free offer was only for 50 cards but that’s ok. The above image shows some of my cards. I think I uploaded about 20 images, so I have at least two of each card. On the front is a full image and on the back is some contact information (including my current twitter profile info) and a picture of me. Yeah, I know it’s not the normal portrait, but hey – I’m different (weird, special, quirky, whatever).

Shout out to the subjects of my Moo cards: Harlem, Manhattan, Philadelphia, Philadelphia’s Mural Arts program, Atlanta, my culinary skills, my friend Zacch, and Earth Hour 2010.

Oh yeah, no need to push and shove for a card. I’ll give you one…maybe. Well, it depends. Actually, you might have to pry them from my tightly gripped fingers. Good Luck with that.

I want to talk about Ms Brooks’ toolset. You’re probably wondering who is Ms Brooks and what is a toolset? Well I’m not going to tell you. I’m just gonna post the picture and let you try to figure that out. ANYWAY…I really want to talk about the shirt she’s wearing. I like this shirt and I want this shirt. Why? Because I go crazy for intelligent dudes and I would probably follow one over a cliff just to be around his brain. I figure if I wear this shirt, I would attract the intelligent dudes and we would live happily ever after, right?

The shirt says: sapiosexual (n.) – a person who is sexually attracted to intelligence in others.

I cannot deny that I find smart dudes to be sexy. Oh! Where did the shirt come from? Um…This site called DangerousNegro.com They also have another shirt that says “Real Eyes Realize Real Lies” and I want it, too.

And here is a reminder from Ms Brooks. So keep this in mind if you decide to order the shirt.

On Wednesday, I was in want of some amazing culinary treats and atmosphere so I went to my local mall for lunch. After I enjoyed a meal of burbon chicken and white rice, and listened to a dude telling the entire food court about how he broke his nose, I meandered back to my car.
Along the way, I stopped off in Z Gallerie to peruse the shiny objects they had for sale and was captivated by this book. By sharing this with you, I feel like I’m letting you know what kind of parent I would be if I had kids. Maybe this is why I have no kids. Sorry mom.

Monday I went to Aja restaurant for lunch with some coworkers. (Technically it was dinner time, but for me I was on my lunch break.) The service was slow, but the conversation was great and I ordered the spicy duck fried rice and a Zuwaikani sushi roll. As expected, the fried rice was spicy and good. (I expected it to be great because I tasted Jarrett’s the last time we were there.)
The sushi however… Well, this particular sushi roll had crab, cucumber, avocado, and salmon. I like the ingredients individually, but as an uncooked fish roll? No thank you. I don’t really know why I ordered sushi since I don’t like it. I guess I keep wanting to like it, so I keep trying it.
I think I’ll just stick to steak, potatoes, and broccoli.

Yeah, so…did you know McDonald’s is selling hotcakes all day? I’m not sure if this is nationwide, but I did notice the sign at a nearby McDonald’s. I wonder if they are doing it because there is an IHOP across the street.

Dear McDonald’s, the only way I want your pancakes during dinner time is if they have been prepared on a grill that has not felt the touch of your onions. There is nothing worse than an oniony pancake. blehh

Let’s continue on with the food conversation.

Dear Chick-Fil-A, Thank you for providing me with a cup that is so flimsy, the straw breaks through the bottom and all of the soda pours out into my lap. My soda cup holder thanks you, my jeans thank you, and I thank you. No, not really. I hope you caught the sarcasm there.

My color vision score is 0. This is one time I don’t mind being called a zero because that means I’m perfect! I have perfect color vision. Now my sight vision we won’t discuss. I might not be able to see that stop sign, but I do know that it’s red. If you want to check your score and compare it to my perfectness, try the quiz on x-rite. Don’t come to me talking smack either unless you score a perfect 0. Go take the test and then come back and tell me what you scored.

I think that covers a pretty eventful week. What do you think?
