When I’m in the kitchen there’s always a possibility of me ruining a perfectly happy piece of raw meat. (See g+ post about the steak I cooked that smelled like sausage.)

Anyway…this time I focused on the task at hand and made some perfectly edible burgers. See the picture below? Isn’t my burger beautiful? And before you ask – yes, that’s a salad; and yes, it has raisins on it. (And yes, I am a great food photographer who can make almost anything look good. )

When I was younger, my mother would make salads with pepperoni, raisins, and Italian dressing, and I guess those flavor combinations have stuck with me. I remember her having pineapples on her salads, too, but I generally only add grapes or strawberries to mine.

Today is April 3, 2013 and I am pleased with my accomplishment.

Yesterday I stopped in Macon, GA for some gas and food. I was in the last leg of my trip from Florida and I decided to slow down and look for a sit down restaurant. I didn’t find a sit down restaurant and I ended up at McDonald’s. Meh. The stop wasn’t a complete bust though. What I did find was an Avenue store.

Avenue is a store for plus size women. I believe their sizes start at 14/16 and go up from there. If you’ve been reading my tweets, you know that I have been in need of jeans so this was the perfect place to shop. I purchased a pair of jeans in my size, but didn’t try them on at the store. I just tried the jeans on this morning. They are pull-up jeans! They don’t have a zipper and they fit like a glove! (And they are quite comfortable.)

OMG what am I going to do with these form fitting jeans?

One day I’m going to learn my lesson about buying clothes without trying them on. But for now, I’m going to wear these form fitting jeans and y’all can just enjoy the view. LOL

Ok, so maybe it’s just me. However, my solution to my need for tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste was to purchase the items in boxes. I’m thinking boxed tomatoes are probably fresher than canned tomatoes. Whose with me on this one? Come on…you know you want to believe it, too.

So tonight I shall attempt to make crockpot spaghetti sauce with these boxed ingredients. (FYI, the beef is not boxed.)

There’s nothing like waking up from a dream about sending out an embarrassing email to vendors and coworkers across the country, AND somehow having your G+ community respond TO ALL in the email with advice. (Thanks guys )

I woke up freaking out that I had actually sent out the email. OMG! OMG!

Also, last Monday night I dreamed of work related statistics. I dreamed of red numbers and blue numbers and yellow numbers as I tried to solve a problem. Do you know what this means? No? It means…

It’s time for a vacation!

Obviously my dreams are trying to tell me that my work and life are out of balance right now. I have some vacation time coming up, but I cannot decide on a destination. I always want to go north to Philly/NYC, but it’s too cold right now. I have also thought about going to Miami in the south (expensive), to Chicago in the midwest (cold), and to Arizona in the west (far away).

I have thought about taking a cruise. (um, have you seen the news lately?)
I have thought about taking the train. (This is still an option.)
I have thought about driving. (This is always an option.)

What should I do? Which do I choose? Where do I go?

For now I’ll just remember the mini 2 night vacation I took with my cousin for her New Year’s birthday treat. We stayed at The Saint Hotel in New Orleans. The hotel is unique, right at Bourbon Street, and I would stay there again. The only thing I didn’t like was the price of breakfast. Next time I’ll just get McGrits from McDonald’s across the street.

At 6:32am ET I shattered my iPad screen.

I had just woken up and hopped out of bed to grab my iPad from its charging spot on the kitchen counter. I had just unplugged it and unlocked it when I remembered that my trashcans was still outside my front door. I had my iPad in my left hand and attempted to grab the trashcans with my right hand. Somehow my hand decided iPad holding wasn’t very important and then…crash!

My iPad landed face down on the ceramic tile floor. Oddly, I looked at it unconcerned, as if nothing was wrong. I went on with my task of relocating the trashcan. *Pause break* The trashcan is quite small and comes up to my knee.

Anyway, I bent down to pick up my precious baby and flipped her over. Right before my eyes she went from being young and smooth to old, cracked, and unsightly. I gently laid her down on the counter and moved into action.
Step 1. Post my anguish on Google Plus.
Step 2. Search the Internet to see what others did in these instances.
Step 3. Researched repair costs in Atlanta. While thinking I already know a repair person in Atlanta.
Step 4. Tweeted BrothaTech because I know him and he has been fixing iPad/iPhones on his spare time.
Step 5. He can do it. He’s gonna do it. Me and my iPad, we’re going to be ok. Whew!

I have owned iDevices since the iPod photo. I have occasionally dropped my iDevices, but never on a hard surface. Considering that I have owned 1 iPod, 5 iPhones, and 2 iPads, I think I’m doing ok. Since I recently picked up the iPhone 5, I am going out TODAY to get a case for it.
Here’s a picture of my broken baby:

And the song of the day is Kurtis Blow’s The Breaks

New Orleans, December 2012

New Orleans was my overnight stop during my road trip to Houston, TX. It was quite cloudy that day, and I was freaking out about crossing Lake Pontchartrain. As you can see in the bottom picture, all I could see was sky and road…and water on both sides.

Once I was situated in my hotel room, I captured a few shots of the view from my window. Looking at these buildings had me thinking of my stays in New York. This was my 2nd visit to New Orleans, but my first time staying in the French Quarter and visiting the business district. As I walked around, I felt like I was in a NY/Atlantic city hybrid. I mean no disrespect to any of these cities. It’s just how I felt.

I only got to see this because I was searching for a Wells Fargo bank in New Orleans. The state of Louisiana doesn’t have Wells Fargo OR Bank of America. Like, none.
I’m glad I brought my camera as I walked around because I was able to snap an image of this trolley car statue. So, on the left is the front of the statue, and on the right is a close up of one of the “windows”. I love the painting of this girl so much.

I am sure there is more to New Orleans than what I saw in less that the 24 hours I was there. I did the usual and had beignets at Cafe Du Monde, and I visited the Museum of Southern Food, but I need more time to see everything New Orleans has to offer. It is an easy drive (for me), so I’ll be back to explore the city again soon.

Other things that happened this year
I didn’t give up on Instagram even though Facebook now owns it. I am contemplating switching from iPhone to Android for the first time since owning an iPhone. I am finally utilizing FrizzyFro.com for my media projects. I have become even more proficient at using Google Plus. And last but not least, my Wordyless blog is still active.

While my list may not be as spectacular as someone else’s list, I am pleased with my accomplishments. This list shows that I was out and about in the world.

I have met sooooo many of my online partners in mischief this year like Brotha Tech, TheCubicleChick, SocaMom, Shareef Jackson, Lamar from Black Married with Kids, Miss MidwesternBlend, Michelle, Kale, Deandra, Neal, Kennedy, Leila, Andrew, TheWayofTheId, Karen, and Professor Herbert.

I also saw a lot of online people I met last year like Jacke, Lorraine, J and J Lee, NaniCoolJ, Scott Hansleman, Luvvie, Adria Richards, Jeneba Ghatt, Ananda Leeke, Notorious Spinks, Cecily Kellogg, Elisa C Page, Afrobella, and June (via skype). Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see Jay Fingers while I was in NY. Maybe next time. If we met this year and I didn’t list your name, please forgive me. It wasn’t on purpose.

When people tell me the internet is not real life, I wonder if they’ve ever attempted to meet the people on the other side of their computer/smartphone. I think this is one of my best accomplishments this year.

Now it’s time for me to figure out what I want to accomplish in 2013.
